Frankston City Council Wins Telstra Award for Excellence with IntraMaps Innovation
We are excited to announce that Frankston City Council recently won the Innovation category of the Telstra Local Government Excellence in ICT Awards for their My Address project. The My Address project was selected from a short list of nine other projects. Selection criteria were based on innovation, adding value and the project’s sustainability.
The Frankston City Council My Address project is a customised public web portal that integrates Digital Mapping Solutions’ IntraMaps MapControl to deploy spatial data to the general public. It allows residents to easily perform online searches for geospatial information on community services and facilities such as their waste collection dates, the locations of schools, community halls, animal exercise areas and other relevant information.
Frankston worked closely with DMS to create the My Address project as part of their vision for Frankston becoming a “connected community”. The goal was to not only ensure that the project is relevant and of benefit to many stakeholders now, but to “future proof” My Address so that it fits with Frankston’s objectives as they move into their next planning phase.
Frankston’s busy Customer Service Civic Centre has already noticed a decline in call times as residents can now access a significant amount of community information via Frankston’s web site.
DMS User Group Meetings Coming Up in Melbourne, Perth and New Zealand
DMS will be holding User Group Meetings in Australia and New Zealand during November and December. These promise to be exciting and informative events where DMS will be showcasing the new release of IntraMaps 2012.
As well as being a great place to network with others in the GIS community, the meetings are designed to provide a relaxed, informal environment where IntraMaps users can discuss the latest spatial developments and provide valuable feedback that will help shape future DMS developments.

November 29th 2011 - Moorabbin, VIC
December 8th 2011- Taupo, New Zealand
December 14th 2011 - Perth, WA
